Talking Points

In your role as an admissions ambassador, you will find that prospective students will have many questions about our programs. We wanted to share with you a list of common questions that you can expect ( FT vs. PT) , as well as some of the information the Graduate Admissions Office highlights when speaking with prospective students.

Common Full-Time MBA Questions

Here are some common questions you may encounter, so you can prepare your response in advance

Why did you choose Questrom for your MBA?

What makes Questrom unique?

How does Questrom help with the internship and career search process? What career resources exist?

What types of opportunities exist for networking?

Can you tell me more about the alumni network? How do alumni connect with current students?

What is a typical day-in-the-life of an MBA student at Questrom?

Where are your graduates employed after graduation (prospective students often want to know that we have a network beyond New England – they also want to know what industries our students go into, what companies recruit our students, etc.)?

What experiential opportunities exist at Questrom (prospective students love hearing about opportunities to partner with real companies/organizations, case competitions, clubs/organizations, international opportunities/seminars, etc.)?

How do you view your return on investment (in other words, they want to make sure it’s worth the time and money they’d be investing)?

Not too sure what to say?

Please know that we want you to have genuine interactions with all prospective students! Our talking points below are meant to provide you with insight into how the Graduate Admissions Office highlights what makes the Questrom experience unique – not to script how you talk with students. Your experiences will each be different, so these talking points are simply meant to compliment the conversations you have with candidates. We encourage you to use these as a reference, but by no means should you feel the need to cover everything you see below.

  • Tailor Your Degree

Our Program allows for a lot of flexibility/choice

Concentrations/Specializations/Dual Degrees: We have specialized MBAs (Social Impact & HSM), 8 dual degrees, and several concentration options – we also have 100+ Questrom electives to choose from – and students can even take electives at other graduate schools on campus

Unique Core Curriculum: Our unique core curriculum (the mod system) allows for students to have more than a year of electives – this allows students to not only start specializing prior to their summer internship, but also to have enough electives to do more than one concentration (if they wish)

  • Culture

Questrom is built on “creating value for the world” and our students embody that mentality. We emphasize teamwork, collaboration, and integrity within an institution that has the resources of a large school but the benefits of a small program.

Learn from each other: we bring together students from so many industries that our students learn as much from one another as they do from our faculty

Faculty: many of our faculty come from industry – this allows them to bring their experience to the classroom, as well as use their networks to connect students with industry leaders

  • Career Resources

We provide a range of career services. We bring companies to campus, host hundreds of MBA events (info sessions, campus interviews, networking fairs), and post thousands of job/internship opportunities. Students collaborate with their dedicated career coach from the Grad Center to develop a targeted search plan, then work with a member of the Feld Center for Industry Alliances who will work to connect you with employers and alumni.

  • Location in Boston

We are located in the heart of Boston! A city known for education, healthcare, finance, consulting, tech, entrepreneurship/innovation, nonprofits, and more – because of this, we have strong connections within these industries, and are able to offer our students unique resources (guest speakers in class, networking events, and more)

  • Experiential Opportunities

International field seminars/global immersion courses, student-led treks, activities led by clubs/organizations, student-led symposiums/panels/conferences, consulting projects, integrated projects within the mods, case competitions, Dean’s Speaker Series, entrepreneurship/innovation resources (Innovate@BU), etc.

  • Diversity & Inclusion

We believe the more perspectives, the better. We aim to foster an environment where there’s diversity in both thought and culture so that students are surrounded by classmates who inspire them, push them to do better, and who open their eyes to new approaches in business and in life

  • Funding/Merit Scholarships

We consider all applicants for merit-based scholarship and also have dedicated financial aid staff to discuss ways to finance the degree
