Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day! The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America's strength, prosperity, and well-being. For us students, it marks the beginning of school...

Anyhow, this week's Spotlight is on second year FTMBA Jorge Garcia Valverde!

Prior to Questrom, Jorge lived in Mexico City and worked in Financial Planning for Lexmark, a global tech company. He was in charge of planning the annual budget for the Latin America sector, forecasting and reporting on future projects to increase profitability. Over the summer, Jorge did his internship at BlueHub Capital, a national Community Development Financial Institution based in Boston. As an Impact & Operations Intern, he worked on two affordable housing loans in the underwriting process and helped gather important impact data for the organization.

Jorge is super active in the MBA community. This year, he is helped establish the Impact Investing club and is currently its Co-President alongside second year SIMBA Andrew Erickson. He also serves as VP of Finance for the Social Impact & Nonprofit Club and the Latin American MBA. He believes that clubs are the best way to get to know other students and engage with the community and encourages all first years to consider joining a club!

This summer, Jorge enjoyed traveling, biking around Boston, and going on picnics in the Public Garden with his wife and fellow second year SIMBA, Paulina Carregha Garcia. He is an avid baseball fan and loves attending Red Sox games; he even organized a Red Sox outing for the SINC executive board last spring!
