Hello Class of 2024!

The MBA Center is so excited to welcome you to the Questrom School of Business at Boston University.  We are your first stop for all things academic development and community engagement during your time pursuing your MBA.  Over the next two months, you can expect to hear from us every week or two, with e-mails coming out on Wednesday afternoons!  In our future e-mails, we will begin to introduce you to our staff and some of the ways you will be working with us. In this e-mail, we are highlighting the most pressing to-do items, including getting set up with your student experience platform, LAUNCH dates, your new student form, and more.  You can get in touch with us any time by e-mailing mbacenter@bu.edu

What is Questrom Common?

As part of your early introduction to the MBA student experience, the MBA Center is happy to welcome you to the Questrom Common. The Questrom Common is your first stop when engaging with your campus community in the digital space. It will allow you to see and register for events, join student organizations, access campus resources and important websites, and connect with the community through multiple formats. It's also the tool we use to send most major Questrom e-mail communications, including this one and others that will come from the MBA Center over the course of the summer. (For this reason, please add mailer@campusgroups.com to your list of “safe senders” so our communications always end up in your inbox.)

To be ready to engage in all that's coming, we want to onboard you to the platform now. Please use your BU Kerberos password to log into the Questrom Common web platform and start building your user profile. You can also watch a tutorial on how to use the web platform and download the mobile app version of the Common in the Apple app and Google Play stores.

We look forward to bringing new features to you over the summer and using the Questrom Common’s in-time calendar of events during LAUNCH in August.

LAUNCH is a required two week on campus orientation to your academic coursework, campus resources, and networking! We will be sending out a more detailed schedule as the dates approach.

LAUNCH Pre-Work

Along with your general checklist tasks below, there is some pre-work to prepare you for coursework and career deliverables.  You should already be receiving communication from career coaches, and the academic pre-work will be released in early July

Your Next Few Tasks

Along with setting up your profile on the Questrom Common, there are a few other important tasks we need you to complete right away!  There will be more tasks we release in a checklist on the Questrom Common after next week once you’ve set up your profile.

Your current to-do list:

• If you haven’t yet, set up your BU e-mail address! 
  • Deadline: Today!
  • You’ve received several prompts to the e-mail you provided us when you applied.  This is the last e-mail that will go to your personal account
• Activate your Active Directory
  • Deadline: Friday, July 1
  • This allows you to have access to all of our systems.
• Complete your New Student Information Form
  • Deadline: July 8
  • This will help us gather information place you in mentor groups, teams, and cohorts, as well as prepare materials for LAUNCH and beyond.
  • It will take about 10-15 minutes to fill out

Update from Career Coaches

ES723 Career Management

You now have access to the MBA Career site on Blackboard. Use your BU e-mail credentials to log in!  A few other reminders:

• If you missed the 6/14 workshop, don’t forget to complete the make up work by 6/24 or e-mail Teaching Assistant Sophia Rostock for a deadline extension.
• 6/24 is the deadline to fill in several sections in your Career Success Workbook: Career Priorities, Required Skills, and Career Pitch/Referral paragraph pages.  If you finish before then and want to start working on your resume, e-mail TA Sophia Rostock.
• Contact your Summer Career Coach with any deadline adjustment needs or if you’re struggling with tasks- they were introduced in your 6/13 Career Team welcome e-mail that also contained your personalized CSW link.  You will otherwise connect with your Summer Career Coach when you get a VMOCK score of 85+ and request network feedback.

Take advantage of summer career workshops including Thursday Come As You Are Career Conversations – Meet – Ask – Share.  All summer workshops are offered at 11am and 8pm using the same Zoom link.
